Katie has been working as a dietitian at Healthy Diets since 2009. During this time she found her passion for working with individuals who have diabetes and kidney disease. As a Certified Diabetes Educator, she has unique training and insight that allows to create an in-depth care plan that works harmoniously with all aspects of a individuals diabetes care and blood sugar management.
Katie believes that we can achieve the healthiest relationship with both food and our bodies if we understand the role that food plays in fueling the body and she is passionate about helping her patients explore this role as it relates to their own body and health conditions.
Katie grew up in the quaint but charming town of New Hill, NC. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in public health, and completed her dietetic internship through the University of Virginia.
Before Healthy Diets, Katie worked for the Expanded Food and the Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) at North Carolina State University, piloting its new curriculum for WIC and EFNEP participants.
She enjoys traveling and spending as much spare time as she can outdoors, whether going on walks with her family of three, fine-tuning her green thumb in yard, or watching her young daughter’s fascination with nature as she explores the world around her.
